Can a Hummingbird Feeder & a Seed Feeder Hang on the Same Pole?

Can one hang a wild bird seed feeder on the same garden pole-hanger with a hummingbird feeder? Or do the other birds chase the hummers away? Thanks!

Hi Celeste

Yes you can. And yes some types of birds will chase the Hummingbirds away but you may also find the reverse is true as well.

Hummingbirds are very competitive and will go after other birds who get in their way.

Some types of birds such as House Finches will love to drink at the Hummer feeder too if the ports are large enough.

The type of other feeder and seed you hang beside it will make a difference too. A tube feeder with nyjer seed will attract Goldfinches and House Finches, making for a more peaceful arrangement.

A feeder with sunflower seeds that allows larger birds to feed will cause more dissension.

The only thing you can do is try it and see how it plays out in your situation.

Hope this helps. Happy birding!
