The Flurry of Feathers: 30 Hummingbirds in One Place at One Amazing Pool Party

I recently stumbled upon a video (embedded below) that absolutely brightened my day – it’s called “Hummingbird Pool Party Number Five!” and it’s exactly as whimsical as it sounds. Imagine a bunch of tiny hummingbirds, typically the lone rangers of their species, all gathered together in a bird bath, taking turns frolicking in the water like joyful guests at the most enchanting, miniature pool party you’ve ever seen.

As @childwaters noted, it’s a treat to see them “nervously coming and going but a couple of them are really chilling.” It’s really something special because as @zaalnibu pointed out, “Wow, hummingbirds are very territorial, I’m surprised they are all so calm in such a large group, really cool footage.”

Setting up a bird bath like this, with water that moves in a way that imitates a natural water source, is an excellent strategy to attract these birds. Not only does it offer a spot for them to quench their thirst, but as @hriditaanisha256 muses, it’s comforting “to know that somewhere in the world a few hummingbirds are having a pool party.”

The online crowd is full of admiration and humor regarding this unique sight. @gorillanipples1053 amusingly commented, “I didn’t even know hummingbirds knew what the word ‘Relax’ was,” adding a layer of humor to the already delightful video. Meanwhile, @MerchantIvoryfilms playfully suggested that this fast-paced action was just one busy bird: “Calm down everyone, it’s just one hummingbird, he just moves really fast.”

Others find inspiration from the bird bath itself, with @linda8485 recalling a tender moment when she helped a hummingbird escape from her house, feeling its tiny breath as she carried it to freedom — a moment forever etched in her memory. Then there’s @Obbee who pokes fun at the evolutionary mashup: “God: do you wanna be a bird or a bee? Hummingbird: yes.”

Gardening enthusiasts and nature lovers express their desire to bring such joy into their own backyards. @lonael6699 jokingly complains, “The only problem of this video is that it’s too short.” And @PewPewLazers364 is marveling at what might be a record-breaking event: “this has to be a world record or something. i have never seen more than 2 hummingbirds in 1 place.”

This delightful video is a reminder that the simplest things in nature can bring profound joy. By setting up a bird bath or cultivating plants that hummingbirds love, we invite these “sweet… personality filled critters,” as @not-the-body describes them, into the tapestry of our daily lives. So, why not take a moment to enjoy the “Hummingbird Pool Party Number Five!” – it may very well be the most charming and uplifting spectacle you’ll witness all year
