Why the Narwhal Comparison?
By the time we reach our nectar feeders at the end of the season, it is easy to see how these kinds of comparisons start. The anatomy of hummingbirds is unlike anything else in nature. They seem to possess some sort of divine grace that allows them to defy the natural laws that govern the world around us. When people see a hummingbird at the feeding station, it is easy to see how some would make the comparison to the narwhal of the sea.
