For many of us, making an avian friendly area in our yard is a work in progress. The user of this post has been working on this deck setup for an entire year and the fountain was the last piece of the hummingbird paradise puzzle. As the seasons change and more birds start appearing in our yards, it’s time for some of those tiny additions to be placed to really help the birds!
Customizing Your Fountain
A creative aspect of this project is the approach to how the fountain looks. The user was worried that the metal of the water fountain would keep birds from visiting. To remedy this, she placed some small plastic leaves around the fountain to help it fit in better with the environment. Although we await to see how the hummingbirds react, we have an awesome reminder that we do not need to have expensive gear to play around with how our gardens are set up, even if you are using a vintage pet fountain. At the end of the day, a repurposed pet fountain, or a standard bird bath, the focus is just on making the space bird friendly.
